French Fireworks II
The St George’s Cathedral 2012 Concert Series opens with French Fireworks II - a scintillating selection of French masterpieces performed by the Cathedral’s internationally-renowned organist, and Director of Music, Joseph Nolan. Presented on 17 February at 7.30pm, in association with Alliance Française de Perth, this concert promises to ignite the senses, both aurally and visually. The Cathedral’s new high definition projection system will give audiences a superior view into the organ loft, allowing Joseph’s mastery to be more fully perceived. The programme includes Claude Balbastre’s Variations on ‘La Marseillaise’ (the French National Anthem), three movements from Charles-Marie Widor’s mighty Symphony No 5, Finale from Louis Vierne’s Symphony No 5, and the delightfully quirky Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saëns. Tickets: $35 standard, $25 concession, under 18 years – free. Available from Ticketmaster online at www.ticketmaster.com.au, in person from Ticketmaster outlets, or by phone on 136 100. Transaction fees apply. Reserved seating is for season ticket holders only.
